Hill Hay Farms is a family owned business. It was established in 1994 with the sprigging of 13 acres of ground and has grown year after year since. It is co-owned by Ronnie and his son Steven Hill. Ronnie worked part time while working at Emerson Electric, but in 2005 he retired from Emerson and began focusing all of his time on the farm. Ronnie was the main baler until the farm grew too big for just one baler, then they enlisted the help of Ronnie's wife Gail to start running a 2nd baler. With the continued growth of the farm we have now added a 3rd baler to the mix, Steve's wife, Amber Hill.
Steve's own son Cruz, has grew up on the farm as well. He has helped year after year when he was out of school in the summer, and now that he is college bound he works all year round when he can. He has been operating much of the farm equipment since he was around 6, and now can master any job on the farm.
Hill Hay Farms believes in the old way of doing things. Even on a bad growing year, we strive to keep enough hay to supply our normal customers and do our best to keep the prices from raising. We have heard many stories about people believing they had their hay reserved by someone, whether by mouth or even signing a contract, to later find out the hay was sold because someone else offered them more money. That type of action will never happen with us. We stay loyal to people that are loyal to us.
